Glam it up!!

Not only do I have a makeup addiction, do they have Makeup's Anonymous? I also am constantly looking for new products to try for my skin.

I'm sure by now you have heard about Glam Glow and if not, where do you live?

Since my skin is sensitive, I was hesitant to try the masks. However, while at Sephora I saw they had a midgey size of the YouthMud so I bought it!

Tonight before my shower I figured what the heck, let me try this. I read that you should apply a thin layer and don't leave it on for longer than 10 minutes. I obeyed the rules for once.

Upon opening the package, it was the usual muddy green color. Once I put my finger in the pot, I felt the gritty texture right away. However, not only was there just grit, there was also chunks in the mask. I'm guessing leaves/sticks, but I can't be sure.

After I was done applying, my face felt a little harsh, not tingly, but like it was burning, not very intense, but enough to have me worry if the mask was too harsh for my skin. Another reason why I actually listened to the directions.

It dried quickly on my face, and when I say dried, man did it dry!!! It removed nicely with the smallest bit of water in the shower.

I do feel like it left my skin smoother, brighter and softer. However, because my skin is sensitive, I will most likely only use once a week not twice a week like the directions suggest.

I'm not sure if I will buy the larger pot just yet, but so far so good.

game changer!

Recently I purchased the Master Class Oval #6 brush by MAC. Now, I have plenty of brushes and beauty blenders to apply foundation, but this is in a class of its own! It sort of resembles a toothbrush!

This brush was in development for over a year! The handle is ergonomically designed, and it has rubber on it for comfort! (They all have the tilted handle as seen below)

This brush is made up of what seems like thousands of tiny (synthetic) fibers, to feel so silky smooth on the face. Also, what is different about these brushes is that the product sits on top instead of soaking into the brush and getting all grody. What is a great feature about this brush too is that you can go right from liquid to powder!

Currently there are 3 Master Class Brushes in the line, but lets hope they will expand them. Currently they are available at the MAC store and online.

What kind of brush comes with this packaging? You know its got to be amazing!

layer it up!

As you can see from my earlier post, I am already starting to layer my outfits more than usual. The coolers temps are coming. Its getting chillier in the morning, but then warms up as the day goes on! How annoying is that! Make up your mind!  As I have said before I am always freezing. Scarfs are a good way to add a pop of color or pattern to a simple outfit and add some warmth. I found all these pictures on pintrest, and I cannot wait to recreate them the Jessica way!

Today's outfit

Finally rocking the leather leggings....not a fan of the wedge sneakers I wore with them. I think they would have looked better with heels, but since I was running around today I needed something more practical.

Chambray is from jcrew, v neck is an old navy vintage one, leather leggings are from express.

Favorite Apps!

As you may or may not know, I am a picture WHORE!  It is not uncommon for someone in the group I am out with to make a face or say something when I take out the camera AGAIN!! Take last night for example, my cousin got married. My cousins came up from Florida, one flew in from Colorado, we never get to spend time together anymore, not all of them came to the reunion, so its been a long time! Needless to say, I heard it again last night...ugh more pictures?! Yes guys, shut you're trap and smile! There are worse problems to have!

Because I have a love for pictures, no joke I have a whole page on my iphone that is just picture apps.

Some of my favorites are:

Pic Fx - great app for changing the effects of the photos

Picstitch - typical collage app

Beautiful Mess - I don't think it is very user friendly

Photogene2 - This app has a shit ton of features and is a bit confusing at first, but then you get the hang of things.

Camerabag - similar to Pic Fx, but not as cool

InstaBokeh - this app adds different shapes of colors to your pictures

Color Blast!  - This app is where you can make the photo black and white and just highlight one item in color

Favorites

Some of my latest obsessions!!!

1. J. Crew Chambray Shirt So comfy and I wear it all the time!
2. Urban Decay Better Than Sex Mascara, makes me look like I have faslies on
3. La Vanilla Deodorant the best deodorant, healthy and no aluminum, smells yummy! I got the Vanilla Coconut scent.
4. MakeupForever Full Cover Concealer This stuff covers everything!!!
5. Mac Pressed Pigment in Black Grape, such a fun dark purple-ish color, with sparkle. Use wet or dry.

Catch up?!

Hey guys! Long time huh?! I know I've been busy! Surprise middle of the night hospital trips and all, how fun!! But now that I am better, back to the good stuff, makeup and fashion duh!!!

At work, they have the AC set on full blast all day. Normally, I am on the cold side, but at work, I FREEZE!!! Its seriously sick! I have been dressing for winter already and its only September....haven't quite broken out the Uggs just yet tho.

Here are a few of my outfits over the last few weeks. Since I wasn't feeling well, I was rocking sweats for a while, YUCK!

Since I've been on my weight loss mission I guess you can call it, I have like zero pants that fit me! I also don't really want to invest in pants now because I'm not at my goal. That is why you see some repeats of my current fave Gap ones.

J. Crew Swing Sweater, if you don't have this, go get it!!!! I was so on the fence about buying it, but I'm glad I did. Its comfy and looks great, and if you're having a fat day, it hides that!

I love this saying, very motivational!!

My favorite shorts, too bad I can't still wear them!

Never would I have thought I would have rocked RED jeans!!! I love them, and they spruce up any outfit!

This was Monday's work outfit, a simple scarf adds warmth with a pop of color!

This is today's outfit, even though the temperature was 72 outside. Perfect for the crazy hectic day I had.

How are you getting ready for fall? What are some of your must haves?

I recently purchased leather leggings and I cannot wait to wear them! I'm still on the hunt for the perfect leather jacket.

Life changer!!!

You all know I have a deep love for Mac, that being said, I NEVER use any of their skin care. Some of their eyeshadows I am allergic to, and I tried one of their face cleansers and got the most horrid reaction that I had to go to the derm! awful!

About a month ago, I purchased the Mac Lighful Marine-Bright Moisture Creme. I was skeptical because I didn't want to develop an allergic reaction. As you saw in my July faves post, it made the cut!

Let me explain...

I have always been one to have redness in my face. NO MATTER WHAT! So annoying. I swear by Mac's Skin Enhancer in Neutralize because it calms my redness. MY redness is so bad that I will never leave my house without something BB, Tinted Moisturizer, Foundation, something on my skin.

Enter Mac Lighful Marine-Bright Moisture Creme, I used it twice a day, morning and night, and wouldn't you know it, my redness has been cut down significantly! The description on the product says it takes time to notice a difference, but honestly I noticed in TWO days. And other people noticed too! HUGE!!!

This past weekend I purchased the rest of the system. 4 products in total....a cleanser, a softening lotion which is a fancy name for a toner, essence serum and lastly the moisture creme. That is the order you are to use the products in. You don't have to use the moisture creme in the morning and night, its up to you if you want to and if you feel like your skin needs that extra oomph of hydration. I have been doing all 4 steps twice a day for the last few days and not only do I still see a difference in the evenness of my skin tone, but I have this fabulous J. Lo glow! I also find my makeup looks smoother when it is on, and goes on nicer.

This is seriously the best thing since sliced bread to me, well if I ate carbs! That being said, this is without a doubt my August faves products. I may do a mini faves post, but I felt that the mac lightful system just needed its own post!

This is now available at both Mac stores and counters. Run don't walk!

July 4 update

I just realized that I caught you up to speed in my life, however I never updated you on my July 4th antics. Really Jessica! LAME

A few friends and I, the usual suspects went to Hoboken which is on the Hudson River, but the Jersey side. We saw the Macy's NYC fireworks without having to trek into the city and fight the tunnel traffic and parking and mayhem.

We also stayed overnight at a hotel which made the night that more EPIC!

There were a few bets involved in the night...see when I go out, I tend ok, scratch that I am a BITCH that is right capital letters are necessary. If I don't want to talk to you random dude, I won't and don't touch me! So my friend dared me to hug a random guy, but of course they had to select the lucky individual.

It was definitely a night for the books!

So this is what's going on!

So I'm back! I will get back on my regular blogging schedule. I started a new job and had to get into the swing of things, a routine...you get it right? So let me bring you up to speed on what I have been up to.

I have been trying to use things in my makeup collection that I rarely touch, like my pressed pigments or my other paint pots besides painterly. This has been a bit of a challenge for me, to step out of the box, but hey I purchased all of this stuff for a reason so ummm hello use it biotch!

Last night was a prime example of using new "old" products. For my eye makeup look I used Blackground and then put Blacklit electric cool eyeshadow over it. These eyeshadows are OLD! I'm talking like June 2012! I never opened it! And Blackground, well I think I have used that pain pot twice. I also used the pressed pigment in Light Touch on the inner part of my lid. At first I was reaching for the wipes to take this look off, but then I saw I was out of time, so I had no choice. The look eventually grew on me. I also smudge eyeliner underneath my lower lash line which was way out of the box for me. If I don't put blacktrack in my water line, then I put nothing on underneath. Below is a pic. Let me know if you want names of the colors.

In addition to stepping out of the box with my eyes, I have been doing so with other products I have that I don't use. Enter Golden Elixir Strobe Liquid from the Temperature Rising Collection. This is a product that gives you a glow....think J. Lo. I never know how to use this since its liquid, but I attempted. I applied my Neutralize Skin Enhancer and then the Golden Elixir over it with my 187 brush, then my Prolongwear foundation with my Beauty Blender. I think you can see the glow, or is that my highlighter that I used? Which PS Mac Cream Color Base in Pearl, most amazing Highlighter EVERRRR!!!  Below is a pic too, and I got a new blush, do we like?
